Draft talk:Duane Weekly

Notability

Hi, Filmforme; Rkieferbaum and SafariScribe did not feel that this subject passed WP:NACTOR/GNG. I see you have added sources and content since the previous declines. I am leaning towards agreement with the previous two AfC editors, but since you have clearly put thoughtful time and energy into this draft, I wanted to hear your argument as to why you believe this subject is notable. Thanks @MWFwiki. @Rkieferbaum commented that it was very short and @SafariScribe tagged that the sourcing was not reliable. I was confused because Newspapers.com is very reliable and thats where I found most of the sourcing.
  • The subject acted in several notable plays. I believe this meets #1 under WP:NACTOR
  • The subject directed several productions at a notable venue. Was not sure if this counts towards WP:Notability (people).
I cited The Fresno Bee, Daily Times-Advocate in four references, and Ramona Sentinel in five references. I believe these meet WP:GNG, but if you don't think so, I'll see what else I can find. –Filmforme (talk) 02:36, 4 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
@MWFwiki In regards to the sources, I believe they meet the WP:GNG because of the first bullet point at WP:NBASIC. –Filmforme (talk) 02:47, 4 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's not necessarily the quality of the sources. It's the content. Most of the "newspaper.com" sources (the ones that I could access, I was locked-out after five... you should be screenshotting these and uploading them to archive.com and linking this as the archive URL in the reference) are WP:PASSING mentions from 20+ years ago (not a huge issue, but there could be some WP:LASTING issues, as well) and/or not about Weekly. While Weekly need not be the primary subject, they can't be trivial mentions, either. Also to consider; Of course he is going to be mentioned in local papers if he's in local productions/directing them. This does not preclude him from notability, but it should be considered when weighing the sources. I cannot weigh these sources heavily despite their seeming quantity.
This one is decent to good. If we had 1-2 more sources like this, with content like this, I'd be more open to acceptance. MWFwiki (talk) 21:05, 5 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
@MWFwiki Thanks for a very detailed clarification. I was unaware public Newspaper.com clippings are limited. I did find other coverage from Coronado Times here about his role in Skin: The Movie, but I wasn't sure if it is a only press release. Other coverage from that outlet says he founded the Coronado Tennis Association, but I was not sure than information was independent or necessary to include. 1 2 3 Filmforme (talk) 21:55, 5 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
