The full-rigged ship was wrecked in the Torres Strait off Booby Island , New South Wales with the loss of eight lives. Survivors were rescued by four vessels:- Earl Grey ( United Kingdom ), Everdina Elizabeth ( Netherlands ) and two other Dutch vessels. Bornœuf was on a voyage from Sydney , New South Wales to Bombay , India .[ 11] [ 12] [ 13]
