Peacocking

There are many classical music performers who are described in the most positive terms, but that is not necessarily "Peacocking" if there is general support for the assessment. Many Wikipedia articles use such terminology. The use of negative terms such as "flowery" or "excessive" are inappropriate if the assessment is generally supported by critical reviews. The key is to have sufficient citations to supportive reviews by experts.

Here is one example, from the Wikipedia article on the pianist Vladimir Horowitz, which is not regarded apparently as "Peacocking" due to the fact that there are expert opinions in the citations for sources.

"Vladimir Samoylovich Horowitz[n 1] (October 1 [O.S. September 18] 1903 – November 5, 1989) was a Russian[1][2][3] and American pianist. Considered one of the greatest pianists of all time,[4][5][6] he was known for his virtuoso technique, timbre, and the public excitement engendered by his playing.[7]" Tennisedu (talk) 07:10, 26 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
