Template:Disputed map/doc
| This is a documentation subpage for Template:Disputed map. It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
| This template should not be substituted. |
This template identifies a Wikipedia article as having a map whose truth or factual nature is in dispute.
- This template is a self-reference.
Usage
First add a new section named "Disputed map" to the article's talk page, describing the problems with the disputed map. Then place {{Disputed map}} at the top of the disputed article or in the relevant article's section. If the talk page discussion is not in a section named "Disputed map", use {{Disputed map|talk page section name}} (for a talk page section named "Disputed information", use {{Disputed map|Disputed information}} in the article). If there is no talk page, the tag won't refer to it (in which case it's recommended to consider whether the tag should be there, since there is no reason given). Articles using this template as shown above are placed into Category:Articles with disputed maps.
If a dispute spans multiple pages, please centralize the discussion in one location and link to it by specifying the talk page where the discussion is: {{Disputed map|talkpage=Talk:Page name|section name|date=June 2026}}.
This template can take an optional date parameter in the format {{Disputed map|date=June 2026}} or {{Disputed map|talk page section name|date=June 2026}}.
Example
{{Disputed map|date=June 2026}}
Output:
The factual accuracy of the map included in this page is disputed. |
Category:
Sections
If applied to part of an article, this template takes an optional parameter "section", for example: {{Disputed map|section}}:
{{Disputed map}}
Output:
The factual accuracy of the map included in this section is disputed. |
