Attribution

From WP:NOATT:

"Not everything copied from one Wikipedia page to another requires attribution. If the re-user is the sole contributor of the text at the other page, attribution is not necessary. Content rewritten in one's own words does not need attribution. However, duplicating material by other contributors that is sufficiently creative to be copyrightable under US law (as the governing law for Wikipedia) requires attribution.

As guidance, none of the following require attribution when copied within Wikipedia:

  • Common expressions and idioms;
  • Basic mathematical and scientific formulae;
  • Citations and references;
  • Material that has been deleted in full, with no copy kept on the public wiki.

However, attributing the first two is encouraged.

Quotes from external sources do not need to be attributed to the original Wikipedia contributor, although any text surrounding them would be, and the original source must still be cited. However, even though attribution is not required in these cases, including a link is often useful."

In conclusion, I was wrong and I apologize for that. However, you did seem to have also copied the other changes I made to S.L. Benfica, and in that case, you should have given attribution, e.g. "copied from S.L. Benfica". SLBedit (talk) 18:50, 2 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

@SLBedit: It’s okay. It wasn’t my attention to copy your work. In my point of view, every contributions that I made aren’t of my authority and none of editors authority. But I understand your contestation. But I just want to make sure I’m not here to stole people’s work or disrespect someone. I’m just here to contribute to Wikipedia. You recent reverts

Why do you keep reverting my edits? You first updated the stats while the a whole half was unplayed. The undo button should only be used to oppose clear vandalism. Your behaviour is totally unacceptable. Sakiv (talk) 21:33, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Sakiv: Dude just chill. What I did was updating the stats in the middle of the game. So what? Santa Claus will put me on the naughty list? I just changed the number of appearances and goals of each player. As you used the undo button, that means you classified my edit as vandalism. Alright, I am a good guy so I accepted your revert because of my first edit so I waited for the whistle to make the changes. Do I classify my first edit as vandalism? Absolutely not, but I accept it. Now the second revert is absolutely no sense. I did what you said to me, and you still reverted it? Are you kidding me? I hope it’s a misunderstanding. I don’t wanna make “enemies” here but I just want to clarify to you that I’m not here to vandalize, I’m here to edit and help Wikipedia. So I ask to you for more respect of my work and I will respect yours. Thank you. BigLordFlash (talk) 22:05, 5 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

CN overload

Hello BigLord! I noticed that in this series of edits, you added a whole bunch of {{citation needed}} tags. I feel that a lot of these aren't appropriate since not every single little thing needs a citation. For example, you have a CN tag after "He is Mario's yellow-and-purple clad arch-rival." for Wario. You do not need a citation here as him wearing yellow and purple is evident just from the image. Arch-rival might have needed a reference, but I don't think it was really appropriate to add citation needed tags. However, some of the things you tagged can be seen by playing the games themself, in which a citation isn't required as the game itself is the citation. I'm not saying the entire list doesn't need citations because not everything is easily seen in the games. But some of the things you added do not need citations. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 01:20, 7 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

MCU music page

Hey thanks for starting those phase drafts. It's been on the very back burner for me for a while now to look at the main music page. I do agree it is too big and in need of a restructure. I don't know if that's necessarily splitting off content by phase, or just a top down reimagining of what the music article is and what info we have on it. Might need to move this to the music talk page if it goes anywhere, but happy to consider that if this is something you felt you'd like to chip away at. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 19:23, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Favre1fan93: Yes we should start discussing this in the music article talk page because the article is messed up and we are starting to candidate good topics and it's important to start looking to the soundtrack articles. In my opinion, splitting them in phases it's the best option because there are a lot of content/sources to be used for each phase. I started restructuring the article in my sandbox, so if you are interesting to look at it and give your opinion, I would appreciate it :) BigLordFlashtalk 20:50, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Music of the Marvel Cinematic Universe into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. Yoshi

Hi! I've seen you nominating Yoshi but I don't think it is perhaps ready? The reception might need to be rewritten per WP:Reception + there are still other sources that can be used like [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] and there has to more also like merchandises. Kindly also check all his major appeareances at Yoshi (video game series) and try to search if there is information about Yoshi's design on other games that was not mentioned or info being added. For better example, kindly copy the layout of Princess Peach since it is a good article brought by User:Fieryninja. Regards, 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 23:57, 9 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Boneless Pizza!: Thank you very much for your suggestions! This is my first Good Article nomination, so every suggestion is very important to me. I would like to ask whether you would be willing to help me make some of those changes (not all of them, of course). If you accept my request, I would be happy to add you as a co-nominator for the nomination. Best regards, BigLordFlashtalk 11:22, 10 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

@BigLordFlash Been following this for a little bit, I would definitely suggest asking Fieryninja for help given their experience, but at worst I'd be willing to help a bit with this if needed. Keep me posted if there's anything specific I can do to help you out here. I've been eyeing Yoshi for a little bit and I'd be happy to help in any way I can! It's very tough nowadays to find more reliable sources for reception since the seafch result is getting limited 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 21:25, 10 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Pokelego999: Thank you for your willingness to help me!
  • The Lead looks complete and good.
  • The Concept and Creation section needs some more material to cover every important subject.
  • The Appearance section, in my opinion, is the strongest one. I think it covers every important title Yoshi appears, but It could have some rewrite to not look like a list in some parts.
  • The Merchandise section looks good, but can have more material.
  • My biggest concern is the Critical Reception section, I don't know how to get more sources to fullfill the section.
  • The Legacy section looks really strong, but we have more sources to add to it.
Boneless Pizza! gave one source to add to Critical Reception section, one to add to Concept and Creation section and the rest to add to Legacy section. In general it needs a small clean-up and grammar fixes. If you could help me in any of this points, I would be grateful :) BigLordFlashtalk 12:25, 11 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
For clean up and grammar issues, you can request through Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Requests but it will take months for your request to be granted. That is my only way to get the article to GA, especially I am not fluent in English. But for reception, you can try your best. You can check other featured articles to follow a format. For merchandise, there is more to be added and you can do some research for that. Goodluck. 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 13:53, 11 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@BigLordFlash
-I'd say concept and creation could potentially do with some additional info from later games? Given Yoshi's significant role in many games (As well as kickstarting his own series) I would imagine there's likely some developer interviews out and about regarding them. I'd try searching in regards to particular games and see what you can turn up. I'd also suggest digging through some Mario fan wikis, since they sometimes cite official interviews in their articles that may be worth citing (The interviews, not the articles I mean).
-Merchandise likely needs some new sourcing (What is the reliability of Toymania? I am unfamiliar with it) especially since at present it's currently lopsided to focus on the Wooly World amiibo. I'd try to find more information on Yoshi merch if possible.
-I can do a dig for reception and legacy but yeah this definitely needs the most expansion overall. Compare it to what Donkey Kong (character) has, as an example. Much of the reception is largely weak sources or list rankings which aren't exactly strong coverage of Yoshi's overall impact. I would suggest finding articles talking about the character's importance, impact, and legacy in a significant manner that is focused entirely on Yoshi. Perhaps dig through Google Books and Google Scholar, and check through the Internet Archive's magazine archives, which likely contain some old gaming magazines with info (This should also apply for the above two sections).
Let me know if there's anything more specific I can give advice on here. This is a pretty big first undertaking so I'll help where I can on gathering reception (Probably the biggest and most difficult part of an article like this tbh). Will likely try doing this over the course of the next week or so since the next few days are fairly busy for me unfortunately. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 05:09, 13 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Pokelego999 Thank you for your feedback! I'm also busy for the next weeks so I don't think I'll pick up this article or wikipedia for a while. BigLordFlashtalk 10:46, 13 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I think this is a disappointing response. You asked to collaborate and then someone gave a you a huge tips just for you to say "I don't think I'll pick up this article". 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 00:21, 14 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Boneless Pizza! A disappointing response is not responding at all. I thanked him for the feedback and gave him a plausible justification for the lack of edits to the article in the coming weeks. I have priorities in my life and this is not one of them. I still have a lot to do in this article and I'd rather do it with time. By the way, I didn't just say that "I don't think I'll pick up this article", I said "I don't think I'll pick up this article or wikipedia for a while" which are completely different things and you just removed it from context to give you a point that doesn't exist. This is not the first time that you make a misreading about something I do, like in this reverted edit. Please don't misinterpret my edits, actions or life choices. Your feedback will be used in my future edits in the article and you'll receive all the credits that you deserve. BigLordFlashtalk 11:58, 14 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Gotcha. I owe you an apology for misinterpreting it. 🍕BP!🍕 (🔔) 12:36, 14 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@BigLordFlash no worries! It's a busy time for a lot of people right now.
