Hello. Your account has been granted the "massmessage-sender" user right, allowing you to send messages to multiple users at once. A few important things to note:
Messages should only be sent to groups of users who are likely to be interested in the topic.
For regular mailings such as those for WikiProjects, localized events, or newsletters, users should be informed of how they can unsubscribe from future mailings.
The mass messaging tool should never be used for canvassing with the intention of influencing the outcome of discussions.
You can create a new MMS list of users by moving one from this page.
It is usually best to send a test message to yourself, ensuring that the test message doesn't break talk page sections, and that the test message has a timestamp (for bot archiving).
It is best to use {{No ping}} when linking to users, so that you do not receive hundreds of pings when sending the message.
For more information, refer to the guidance for use. If you do not want mass message sender rights anymore, just let me or any other administrator know and we will remove it. Thank you and happy editing! <!

Hello Illusion Flame,
Backlog update:
At the time of writing, there are 10,800 articles and 14,900 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!
October Backlog elimination drive:
A one-month backlog drive for October is starting soon! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.
PageTriage code upgrades:
Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not uninstalled in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.
Notability tip:
Professors can pass WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations, is likely to be kept at AfD.
Reviewing tip:
If you want to get a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.

@Illusion Flame: I just want to get on-wiki approval from you before I start making changes (I don't like to edit other people's comments or messages). Do I have your approval to use AWB to remove the extra "thumb" parameter that was added to the newsletter from the relevant user talk pages? Hey man im josh (talk) 19:16, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
Oh right! I forgot that the pings are a part of the reason that editing these newsletters after the fact is discouraged. Yes, please do have Qwerfjkl handle this instead, they've very experienced at handling these tasks. Hey man im josh (talk) 19:44, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
Hello @Luc1a ontonda and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for contacting me with your question, but I’m afraid I can only assist with Wikipedia related queries. You may want to check out what Wikipedia is not and the tutorial for new users. Again, welcome! Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions that relate to Wikipedia.
An RfC is open regarding amending the paid-contribution disclosure policy to add the following text: Any administrator soliciting clients for paid Wikipedia-related consulting or advising services not covered by other paid-contribution rules must disclose all clients on their userpage.
Technical news
Administrators can now choose to add the user's user page to their watchlist when changing the usergroups for a user. This works both via Special:UserRights and via the API. (T272294)
I created a draft "Draft:Anandmurti_Gurumaa" but it got deleted. Can you please let me know the exact reason why my draft got deleted and what changes I should make before republishing that draft? Please help me.
Hello @Mananarya22 and welcome to Wikipedia! Your draft appears to have been tagged for deletion because when you read it, it sounds like an advertisement. A big part of Wikipedia’s mission is to provide neutral articles to the public. Promotional articles (or drafts) are part of what Wikipedia is not and can be deleted for this reason under the G11 speedy deletion criteria. If you need further assistance, please do let me know. I hope you enjoy your time on Wikipedia, and I encourage you to review our tutorial. Thanks! - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆(𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 13:34, 7 October 2023 (UTC)
Thank you so much for your response. I genuinely appreciate your concern and your commitment to maintaining the neutrality of Wikipedia articles. I want to clarify that my intention was not to promote the draft but to provide an informative and unbiased overview. I apologize if it came across differently. I fully respect Wikipedia's mission to offer neutral content to the public.
I kindly request your guidance on any specific changes that you believe would help bring the draft in line with Wikipedia's guidelines. Your expertise and suggestions will be immensely valuable, and I am committed to working collaboratively to ensure the draft meets the necessary standards.
Greetings @Mananarya22 and thank you for the prompt response. I appreciate your willingness to improve the page. I’d suggest looking at another article about a spiritual teacher you know to see a model of how a page should look like. Then you can make wording changes to the draft so it reads less promotional. Thanks! - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆(𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 13:57, 7 October 2023 (UTC)
Hi, would you consider undoing your close and relisting this RfD instead? Apart from me and the creator, only one person replied, and the reason given for why this could be useful (by the creator) was in my view debunked in my last reply (not answered to). I believe this warrants further input from uninvolved editors, and as it hasn't been relisted yet, a first relist seems appropriate. Fram (talk) 16:32, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
Hm. I can see your points, though as it stands I stand by my keep closure. As it hasn’t been relisted before, I’m fine with allowing more time for comment as it can’t hurt. Done - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆(𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 16:43, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
Hello, Illusion Flame. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.
Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving a redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.
Hi Frostly! I’ll admit that categories aren’t really my specialty, but I’ve altered the categories of a few pages that should help a little. I’m liking the new user page! - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆(𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 02:20, 21 October 2023 (UTC)
Question from MarkusDorazio (05:02, 24 October 2023)
Hi, what should I do if I have conflicting sources, for example I am editing about a new tank model. One source has a detailed description of what the new tank model has, upgraded transmission and so on, but it says something that I know (and is support by articles) to be incorrect regarding its thermal optics. Do I clarify that it is not accurate and cite something different, or do I continue to use the misleading description for consistency's sake? --MarkusDorazio (talk) 05:02, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
Sources on Wikipedia often don’t fully agree on things and this is a perfect example. I noticed you said “something that I know”. Just so you are aware, Wikipedia doesn’t use original research and the things in our articles must be support by reliable sources not our editors experiences.
But if it is true that there is a disagreement between the sources, then the consensus is to prefer the most recent one. Or if there is one source that says something, but many other reliable sources say something different, we’d stick with the consensus of the academic community. But it is also important for editors to report all significant viewpoints as fairly as possible.
Hello! Thank you for all of the help that you have made to Wikipedia. I was wondering if I should add in different link numbers if the same link is used twice, and if you restart your link numbers per paragraph, per section, or per page. --Valmelia (talk) 23:59, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
The numbering for citations done the correct way should be automatic. The ref number will be the same if the same link is used twice, and numbering restarts per page. Rusty4321talkcontribs14:54, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.

barnstar
I did not receive the barnstar for participating in NPP October driveRatnahastin (talk)
Following a motion, the contentious topic designation of Prem Rawat has been struck. Actions previously taken using this contentious topic designation are still in force.
Following several motions, multiple topic areas are no longer designated as a contentious topic. These contentious topic designations were from the Editor conduct in e-cigs articles, Liancourt Rocks, Longevity, Medicine, September 11 conspiracy theories, and Shakespeare authorship question cases.
Following a motion, remedies 3.1 (All related articles under 1RR whenever the dispute over naming is concerned), 6 (Stalemate resolution) and 30 (Administrative supervision) of the Macedonia 2 case have been rescinded.
Following a motion, remedy 6 (One-revert rule) of the The Troubles case has been amended.
An arbitration case named Industrial agriculture has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case close 8 November.
Miscellaneous
The Articles for Creation backlog drive is happening in November 2023, with 700+ drafts pending reviews for in the last 4 months or so. In addition to the AfC participants, all administrators and New Page Patrollers can conduct reviews using the helper script, Yet Another AFC Helper Script, which can be enabled in the Gadgets settings. Sign up here to participate!
Okay. I’ll have to modify the final exam slightly to not require emails. But I also need to verify that it is you, not someone else, filling out the form. I’ll get back to you! - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆(𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 18:13, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
Hello, since I saw your nomination to receive the edit filter helper right at the edit filter noticeboard (in which I've supported), I was wondering: are there any specific criteria and/or levels of trust I should have so that I can receive the right when I start my first self-nomination (or when somebody else nominates me)? I believe that EFH would allow me to help out with private filter false positives and to suggest fixes when possible.
Hello @64andtim! A big thing I’d tell you is that tenure is important. When I first ran a few months ago (with only ~2 months of tenure), it didn’t go well. But I waited, built up experience responding to reports consistently and correctly over many months, and found a nominator to guide me through the process. I’d encourage you to do the same. (-the first failed request of course) - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆(𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 11:10, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
Send your potential nominator an email with something like:
Hello (insert username here), My username is 64andtim and I am very active with edit filters. I frequently respond to reports and comment on discussions on the EFN. (Insert why you need the right here) I was wondering if you would be willing to nominate me for edit filter helper. Thanks! -64andtim
They will likely respond with:
Thanks for approaching me. I will look into it and get back to you in a few days
Hello! I am interested in taking the Counter-Vandalism Unit course, because I love Wikipedia and have been reading it and learning so much almost as long as it’s been around. I would very much like to protect our beautiful encyclopedia from vandalism and I see you have one student slot open, and I would like to join the CVU!
For being such a good mentor in the CVUA! II would’ve used the Random Acts of Kindness barnstar, but I don’t think it counts as random if I’m your student. Thank you very much for all you do! Shadestar474(talk)08:24, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
I have closed your request at EFN as successful. Feel free to ask if you have any questions, and let me know if you'd like the right removed at any point in the future. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 00:26, 17 November 2023 (UTC)

I was wondering how often people vandalize Wikipedia with horrific images, and how often RC patrollers see these images, because I do not want to be psychologically scarred for life. How often does this happen?
(talk page stalker) — I've come across this sort of image vandalism before. Generally images will be put on the Mediawiki:Bad image list if used repeatedly for vandalism, but unfortunately it is just sometimes part of the job. I am fine with this, but if you think these images would scar you for life then perhaps you should reconsider anti-vandalism, as nobody wants you to be harmed here. I will say that image vandalism is infrequent enough that you forget about it quickly enough (most vandalism will be angry sports fans on children, not people genuinely trying to cause psychological harm!). Question from HollywoodCMT (21:31, 20 November 2023)
I just enjoy the context and don't plan on editing. Is the sole purpose to edit the pages to a baseline of factual information? Where do I even start here?
Thanks in advance --HollywoodCMT (talk) 21:31, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
Greetings @HollywoodCMT and welcome to Wikipedia! Wikipedias purpose can be summarized by our some of our pillars, which I will explain:
Wikipedia is an encyclopedia
We aren’t a dictionary, a newspaper, or a way for people to advertise. Wikipedia is an online version of an encyclopedia
Wikipedia is free content that anyone can use, edit, and distribute
You can edit Wikipedia: for free. You can read Wikipedia:For free.
This is our goal, to provide an accurate and unbiased online encyclopedia that anyone can edit or read for free!
I’d encourage you to edit as well! There are many areas where Wikipedia could use your help. This page explains some of them. Don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any further questions! Once again, thanks, and happy editing! - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆(𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 21:56, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
Last time I ever use passkeys for 2FA
Hello Mr Flame... Turns out it's not a good idea to use passkeys for 2FA because I managed to get into a state where I can login with the password but when I attempt to authenticate with my iCloud passkey which I have, it timesout before it finished authenticating. Now my bets are VRT or getting Opera when I get home so I can scan a QR code to authenticate which would work better :) - Last time I use passkeys. I can't use a physical one because I don't have one and I would lose it. Tempting to add one though just to use as a backup. I'll let you know when I finally get it working (hopefully) or I'll have to usurp my old account and move to a new account :( Zippybonzo (alt)| talk to me | he/she/they 08:13, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message (test)
(This is a test message. You are getting this, because you are either a coordinator or an electoral commissioner for the Arbitration Committee Elections.)
Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Greetings @Lylylyl and welcome to Wikipedia! I see that you want to create a page. This is excellent, thank you! For right now, I’d like to direct your attention to the article creation portal. It will walk you through all the steps of creating your page. First, it will start as a draft where you will develop the content. Then you can submit it for approval and an experienced editor will either approve it, or give you feedback on how to improve. Wikipedia also has some policies in place to make sure our articles are accurate and helpful to readers. One of them is the neutrality policy which basically means that the page should explain all points of view and shouldn’t be biased towards one side. Wikipedia pages also cannot be used to promote a company, or to try to influence readers to purchase something from them. Last, but certainly not least, all Wikipedia articles must have a notable subject. Notability can be shown when people write about the subject online or written down. Wikipedia also prefers sources that are not written by the subject itself and that are reliable. I know these policies can be confusing, so don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! - 🔥𝑰𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆(𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌)🔥 14:05, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
Following a talk page discussion, the Administrators' accountability policy has been updated to note that while it is considered best practice for administrators to have notifications (pings) enabled, this is not mandatory. Administrators who do not use notifications are now strongly encouraged to indicate this on their user page.
Arbitration
Following a motion, the Extended Confirmed Restriction has been amended, removing the allowance for non-extended-confirmed editors to post constructive comments on the "Talk:" namespace. Now, non-extended-confirmed editors may use the "Talk:" namespace solely to make edit requests related to articles within the topic area, provided that their actions are not disruptive.
The Arbitration Committee has announced a call for Checkusers and Oversighters, stating that it will currently be accepting applications for CheckUser and/or Oversight permissions at any point in the year.
