AfC news
Dear AfC participant,
Msgj and Tnxman307 are organising the AfC challenge! It's a little competition to help improve some of the articles created through AfC and we are hoping that everyone will get involved. For level 1, you just need to bring a stub up to Start-class. Level 2 is improving a Start-class article to C-class. And so on. To get involved or for more information please see the competition page.
Those of you who haven't reviewed an article recently might not have noticed the new process that was implemented this year. Reviewing articles is now more enjoyable than ever :) You might like to give it a try. All articles waiting for review are in Category:Pending Afc requests. (Please read the updated instructions.)
Please consider adding {{AFC status}} to your userpage to keep track of the number of articles waiting for review. At the time of writing we are officially backlogged, so help is needed!
There is currently a proposal to bring the Images for upload process under the umbrella of WikiProject Articles for creation. The rationale is that both processes are designed to allow unregistered users to take part more fully in Wikipedia, and partipants in each process can probably help each other.
If you no longer wish to receive messages from WikiProject Articles for creation, please remove your name from this list. Thank you.
Articles for the more popular and "star" players of the league need to be expanded, have citations added to them and hopefully we can get some GA's out of them.
All articles on active players and coaches need to be updated with stats, news, and all things important. (Note: For stats it's best to use ArenaFan.)
Also, we NEED to get things done so we can take them off of the to do list.
The 2009 AFL Dispersal draft has been moved from December 2, to December 3. Then, on December 3, it was announced that the dates for the Dispersal Draft and the beginning of the free-agent signing period had been rescheduled for Tuesday, December 9 and Thursday, December 11, respectively.
It was announced on December 1, that all 17 AFL teams would be holding offseason player tryouts.
There are rumors circulating that the AFL could suspend operations for the 2009 season, or fold all together.
The 2009 AFL Dispersal Draft, as well as the start of the free agent signing period, have both been postponed "until further notice from the league." The Columbus Destroyers are the holders of the first overall pick in the draft.
On December 15, the AFL Board of Directors voted to cancel the 2009 AFL season.
ArenaFootball.com counted down the 20 best games in the history of the AFL, as voted by the 20th Season Historical Committee. They are presented as follows:
20: Denver 52, Chicago (Brusiers) 44 (June 20, 1987) - In the league’s second game, ever, a thrilling end of regulation leads to the first-ever overtime game. Denver’s Stuart Mitchell hits Durell Taylor with a 39-yard touchdown pass, and Denver’s defense holds Chicago to a stop for the win.
19: Chicago 64, Washington 61 (July 16, 1987) - In the AFL’s first season, Washington’s Dwayne Dixon catches an AFL record 20 passes in a loss to Chicago. The stands to this day.
18: Albany 61, Nashville 59 (July 9, 1999) - Eddie Brown’s last second 35-yard touchdown reception from Mike Pawlawski wins the game for the Firbirds.
January 2, 1982 — The San Diego Chargers beat the Miami Dolphins 41-38 in overtime in the highest scoring playoff game in NFL history. The Chargers jumped out to a 24-0 lead before the Dolphins rallied. Rolf Benirschke ended the game with a 29-yard field goal.
January 11, 1987 — Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway leads "The Drive." Losing to the Cleveland Browns 20-13 with 5:32 left in the AFC Championship Game, Elway leads the Broncos 98 yards on 15 plays to force overtime, then moves Denver 60 yards on nine plays on their first possession of overtime to set up Rich Karlis' game-winning 33-yard field goal in the Broncos' 23-20 victory.
Our goal is to get the number of Stub-Class articles down to 0, in due time. The current article count is listed below, I have placed the forumla that is on the project page that is updated everytime the bot is run and it tallies up our articles and where they are and lists them as seen below, so that no one has to worry about making sure it's updated manually before the newsletter is sent out. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could help expand and/or source an article or two. A list is provided in the stub-class category of stub articles that need to be improved, and some should be fairly easy.
I saw there was a stub for a village in Moldova - Tohatin - and made an entry (also did one for the stub on Dumbrava). You made mention I should cite sources. Understand the value of sources. However, there is very little (possibly none in English) written about Tohatin. I might be a reference (smile) since I own a dacha there. I would be very happy to work on all the Moldova stubs (and many of the Romanian ones) since I am an American semi-pat that spends about 9 months a year there. Tell me how you would like me to go about this so I can stay within guidelines.

Hi. Noticed that you did a run on Wikipedia:WikiProject Canadian football/Articles and it works great. I have a couple of questions. Is it possible, or at least not difficult, to separate them into categories? i.e., Category 1 followed by the articles in that, Category 2 followed by its articles, etc. If not, then I notice there is an unnecessary duplication of articles (since they're listed in more than one Canadian football sub-category). I imagine it would be difficult to eliminate that duplication and, of course, it doesn't affect its use with related changes but does affect its length and use as a list. In any case, this list is great and works well. Thanks, DoubleBlue (talk)05:54, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
I have found a way to get the categories without taking up that many resources, so I will add that in, and use it for the next run. LegoKontribsTalkM03:27, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

ArticleAlertbot / WikiProject Physics
Hi Legoktm,
there's a strange problem with the alert subscriptions for WikiProject Physics. They set the "archivetime" parameter to 90, but the bot doesn't honor it. Maybe there is a manual setting from the test phase which still persists. Could you run the following statement on the database?
UPDATE u_legoktm_alertbot.alertsubscr set auto_subscription=1 where project="WikiProject Physics";
Ah, using the latin section of the Insert bar. Truth be told, all I need is a talk page... preferably with a bot. Ehh, estoy así así, pero estoy cansado. Luna RainHowLCry02:59, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
