Tim Hasselbeck grandit à Norfolk (Massachusetts), ville dans laquelle il est né. Fils de Mary Beth "Betsy" (Rueve) et de Don Hasselbeck, un ancien tight end de la NFL, il est aussi le frère cadet de Matt Hasselbeck, quarterback jouant également en NFL.
