ISO/TR 11941:1996(영어: Information and documentation — Transliteration of Korean script into Latin characters)은 국제 표준화 기구(ISO)에서 사용하는 한국어 로마자 표기법이다. 주로 유니코드와 국제 문자 세트(ISO/IEC 10646)의 문자 이름에 쓰인다.

한글 철자를 기계적으로 옮기는 전자법이다.

아포스트로피

아포스트로피(')는 모호성을 해소하기 위해 사용되며, 사용되는 경우는 다음과 같다.

  • 방법 1과 방법 2 모두:
    • 어두가 아닌 위치에서 초성 ㅇ이 등장할 때 (예: 앉아라 anc'ara/anj'ara)
    • 어두가 아닌 위치에서 초성 ㄲ, ㄸ, ㅃ, ㅉ, ㅆ이 등장할 때 (예: 아까 a'kka/a'gga)
  • 방법 1만:
    • 어두가 아닌 위치에서 초성 ㅋ, ㅌ, ㅍ, ㅊ이 등장할 때 (예: 애타다 ae'thata)

실제로는 위 규칙은 언제나 적용된다. 모호성이 없는 경우에도 적용된다(예: 아이 a'i, 흰떡 hyin'tteok/hyin'ddeog).

유니코드와 ISO/IEC 10646의 문자 이름에서

유니코드와 ISO/IEC 10646에서는 문자 이름에 방법 1과 방법 2가 모두 사용된다.

  • 방법 1: '한글 자모'(U+1100~U+11FF) 영역과 '한글 호환 자모'(U+3130~U+318F) 영역에 있는 문자들 (예: U+1103 ᄃ HANGUL CHOSEONG TIKEUT (디귿), U+3148 ㅈ HANGUL LETTER CIEUC (지읒))
  • 방법 2: '한글 글자 마디'(U+AC00~U+D7AF) 영역에 있는 문자들 (예: U+AF43 꽃 HANGUL SYLLABLE GGOC)

아포스트로피는 문자 이름에서 허용되지 않기 때문에 언제나 생략된다. 예를 들어 '옛이응'은 ISO/TR 11941로 yes'i'eung이지만, 유니코드와 ISO/IEC 10646에서는 YESIEUNG이다(예: U+114C ᅌ HANGUL CHOSEONG YESIEUNG).
