红尾绿鹦鹉 （學名 ：Lathamus discolor Swift Parrot ，台湾作快速鸚鵡 ），又稱雨燕鸚鵡 ，是鸚形目 舊世界鸚鵡科 快速鸚鵡屬 下的唯一一種鳥類。[ 3] 桉樹 林地區，1月—5月間會遷徙至澳洲本土越冬，其餘時間則在塔斯馬尼亞度過，少數個體為全年留鳥。[ 4] [ 5] 極危物種 。[ 6]
該物種由英國動物學家乔治·肖 於1790年以Psittacus discolor 非洲灰鸚鵡屬 下。[ 3] [ 8] 勒內-普里梅韋勒·萊松 將其歸類至一個新屬下，並在1827年時被指定為該屬的模式種 。[ 3] [ 9] [ 10] Lathamus 約翰·萊瑟姆 。[ 11] :219-220 而種小名 discolor 拉丁語 ，意為「不同顏色的」。[ 11] :137
快速鸚鵡體長約23—25.5公分，體重約50—74公克。[ 4] [ 5] 飛羽 呈深藍色，翅下則有特別的橙紅色羽毛。[ 4] [ 5] [ 12] [ 4] 鳥喙 寬平均約8.0公釐、深平均約13.7公釐、嘴峰 長平均約15.8公釐；翼長平均約123.0公釐；跗蹠 約14.3公釐；尾長約119.8公釐。[ 13]

2011年時，研究人員估計快速鸚鵡的族群數量僅約有2000隻左右。[ 6] 蜜袋鼯 對其巢穴造成相當大的危害。[ 6] 國際自然保護聯盟瀕危物種紅色名錄 》中因其高速的族群下降趨勢，將快速鸚鵡列為極危物種。[ 1] [ 6]
