Old fashioned

Old fashioned er en cocktail, der laves ved at mase sukker sammen med bitter og vand, hvorefter der tilsættes whiskey (typisk rye whisky eller bourbon) eller undertiden brandy. Drinken garneres med en skive eller skal af appelsin samt et cocktailkirsebær. Den serveres traditionelt med is i et old fashioned glas (også kendt som et rocks-glass).

Cocktailen blev udviklet i løbet af 1800-tallet og fik sit navn i 1880’erne. Den er en officiel IBA-cocktail.[1] Den er desuden en af de seks grundlæggende drinks, der er opført i David A. Emburys The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks.

Old fashioned er den foretrukne cocktail for Don Draper, hovedpersonen i tv-serien Mad Men, der foregår i 1960’erne.[2] Anvendelsen af drinken i serien faldt sammen med en fornyet interesse for denne og andre klassiske cocktails i 2000’erne.[3]
