Einsteinium(III) chloride is a chloride of einsteinium.

Preparation

Einsteinium(III) chloride is created by reacting einsteinium metal with dry hydrogen chloride gas for 20 minutes at 500 °C which crystallized around 425 °C.^[1]

2 Es + 6 HCl → 2 EsCl₃ + 3 H₂

Chemical properties

The compound can be reduced by H₂ to obtain EsCl₂.^[2]^[3]

2 EsCl₃ + H₂ → 2 EsCl₂ + 2 HCl
