Karabayır (Kurdish : Zengan , Syriac : Zangan ) is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Dargeçit , Mardin Province in Turkey .[ 2] The village is populated by Kurds of the Erebiyan tribe and had a population of 1,020 in 2021.[ 1]
History
Zangan (today called Karabayır) was historically inhabited by Syriac Orthodox Assyrians . In 1915, there were 30 Assyrian families. Amidst the Sayfo , they were killed by the Ali Rammo tribe.
