MATSim (acronyme de « Multi-Agent Transport Simulation Toolkit ») est un projet de développement informatique open source. Le projet suit une approche basé sur les agents (« agent-based » en anglais). L'objectif est de fournir les outils pour simuler la mobilité des individus et pour prédire les comportements en fonction de divers scénarios dans le cadre de la planification des transports[1].
Histoire
Le projet MATSim a débuté avec Kai Nagel, alors à l'École polytechnique fédérale de Zurich dans le cadre du projet TRansportation ANalysis and SIMulation System (TRANSIMS). En 2004, Kai Nagel rejoint l'Université technique de Berlin et Kay W. Axhausen rejoint l'équipe[1].
Domaines d'application
MATSim a été appliqué à divers domaines : transport routier[2], transports publics[3], transport de marchandises[4], évacuation, etc. Certaines applications, comme pour l'Île-de-France[5], s'appuient uniquement sur des données ouvertes.
