Aethalops (berarti "kelelawar jelaga") adalah sebuah genus kelelawar raksasa dalam famili Pteropodidae. Genus ini terdiri dari dua spesies:[1]

Deskripsi

A. aequalis

Kedua spesies Aethalops menjadi salah stau jenis codot terkecil. Individunya rata-rata berbobot 19,3 g (0,68 oz), dan hanya memiliki panjang kepala-tubuh yaitu 65–73 mm (2,6–2,9 in). Hewan ini tidak memiliki ekor eksternal. Spesies genus ini berbulu hitam atau kelagu gelap, dan mereka memiliki telinga yang kecil.[2]

Konservasi

Pada tahun 2016, kedua spesies dalam genus ini memiliki status IUCN sebagai spesies risiko rendah.[3][4]
