Aurornis adalah sebuah genus punah dari dinosaurus teropoda anchiornithid dari periode Jura di Tiongkok. Genus Aurornis terdiri dari spesies tunggal yang diketahui, Aurornis xui (/aʊˈrɔːrnɪs ˈʃuːi/).[1] Aurornis xui merupakan dinosarus avialan paling basal ("primitif") yang diketahui saat ini, dan merupakan salah satu avialan terawal yang ditemukan saat ini. Bukti fosil untuk hewan tersebut mendahului Archaeopteryx lithographica, yang seringkali dianggap sebagai spesies burung terawal, yang berasal dari 10 juta tahun lampau.[1][2]
Aurornis xui mula-mula dideskripsikan dan dinamai oleh Pascal Godefroit, Andrea Cau, Hu Dong-Yu, François Escuillié, Wu Wenhao dan Gareth Dyke pada 2013. Nama generiknya berasal dari kata Latin aurora, yang artinya "dini hari" atau "fajar", dan kata bahasa Yunani kuno ὄρνις (órnis) yang artinya "burung". Nama spesifiknya, A. xui, diambil dari nama Xu Xing.[1]
