Messier 43 (juga dikenal sebagai M43, Nebula De Mairan, dan NGC 1982) adalah nebula yang terpisah dari Nebula Orion yang ditemukan oleh astronom asal Prancis, Jean-Jacques Dortous de Mairan sebelum tahun 1731. Berjarak 1600 tahun cahaya dari bumi, terdapat sebuah bintang masif yang menerangi wilayah disekitarnya dan menghasilkan magnitudo semu sebesar 9.

Astronom memanggilnya sebagai "miniatur nebula Orion" karena ukurannya yang kecil (dari M42).[1]
