Deltacloud는 클라우드 컴퓨팅 구현체 간의 차이를 추상화하기 위해 레드햇과 아파치 소프트웨어 재단이 개발한 응용 프로그램 인터페이스(API)이다. 2009년에 처음 만들어졌다.

역사

Deltacloud는 2009년 9월 3일에 발표되었다.

2010년 5월 17일, 레드햇은 Deltacloud를 아파치 인큐베이터 프로젝트에 기증했다. 2011년 10월 26일 인큐베이터를 졸업하고 아파치 소프트웨어 재단의 TLP(최상위 프로젝트)가 되었다. 2013년 7월, 후지쯔와 VM웨어는 클라우드 인프라를 관리하기 위해 관리 개발자 컨퍼런스(Management Developers Conference)에서 CIMI를 시연하는 데 Deltacloud를 사용했다.[1]

2013년 5월, 레드햇은 아파치 Deltacloud 프로젝트에 대한 후원을 즉시 축소한다고 발표했다.[2]

2015년 7월, Deltacloud는 활동 부족으로 인해 아파치 애틱(Apache Attic)으로 이동되었다.[3]

기능

현재 존재하는 모든 서비스형 인프라(IaaS) 클라우드는 각자 고유한 API를 제공한다. Deltacloud의 목적은 어떤 클라우드에서든 서비스를 관리하는 데 사용할 수 있는 단일화된 REST 기반 API를 제공하는 것이다. 각 특정 클라우드는 "드라이버"라는 어댑터를 통해 제어된다. 2012년 6월 기준으로 아마존 EC2, 후지쯔 글로벌 클라우드 플랫폼, GoGrid, 오픈네뷸라, 랙스페이스, RHEV-M, RimuHosting, Terremark 및 VM웨어 vCloud 등의 클라우드 플랫폼을 위한 드라이버가 존재한다. '클래식' 프런트엔드 외에도 CIMI 및 EC2 프런트엔드도 제공한다. Deltacloud는 클라우드별 로직을 구현할 필요성을 없애기 위해 Aeolus와 같은 애플리케이션에서 사용된다.
