Isomerase

Isomerase adalah golongan umum enzim dalam biokimia, yang mengubah molekul dari suatu isomer ke isomer lainnya. Isomerase memfasilitasi penataan ulang intramolekular di mana ikatan diputus dan dibentuk. Bentuk umum reaksi tersebut adalah sebagai berikut:

Hanya ada satu substrat yang menghasilkan satu produk. Produk ini memiliki rumus molekul yang sama dengan substratnya tetapi berbeda dalam konektivitas ikatan atau susunan spasialnya. Isomerase mengkatalisis reaksi dalam berbagai proses biologis, seperti glikolisis dan metabolisme karbohidrat.
