Gramadewata

Mariamman, dewi pedesaan yang umum ditemukan di wilayah orang Tamil di India Selatan.

Gramadewata (Dewanagari: ग्रामदेवता; ,IAST: Grāmadevatā,; arti: "dewa pedesaan") adalah dewa-dewi Hindu yang dipuja secara lokal,[1] terutama ditemukan pada lingkungan pedesaan di India.[2][3]

Gramadewata diyakini melindungi penduduk desa dari penjahat, wabah, dan bencana alam apabila dipuja secara rutin, dan mendatangkan petaka apabila diabaikan.[4][5] Suatu gramadewata di India Selatan pada umumnya bergender perempuan.[6] Di kawasan itu, dewi pedesaan juga berperan sebagai dewi kesuburan, sedangkan kuil dewa pelindung desa didirikan di dekat perbatasan desa.[7]
