Atilax adalah sebuah genus garangan yang hanya mencakup satu spesies sintas, yaitu garangan rawa (Atilax paludinosus). Satu fosil spesies tunggal barangkali mewakili leluhur dari garangan rawa. Fosil itu berasal dari Afrika Selatan.[1]

Nama genusnya Atilax dikenalkan pertama kali oleh Frédéric Cuvier pada 1826.[2]

Genus ini berupa mamalia semiakuatik nokturnal yang soliter, yang hidup di lahan basah dan memakan ikan, krustasea, katak serta mamalia kecil.[3]
